Professor Harriet Hustis
Course Meetings: Wednesday 4:30-7:20pm
Graphic Novels & Narrative Theory: Beginning with an examination of how the form and function of the graphic novel “changed” in 1986 with the publication of Watchmen, Maus, and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, this course will employ theories of narrative–in particular, work in the field of gender studies, disability studies, comics theory and/or critical race theory–to address & illuminate debates about the literary merit of graphic narrative.
