TCNJ’s slam poets have the chance to share their spoken word pieces and compete for the Slam Champ Title. This
semester’s prize for winning is being of two people opening for slam pet, Danez Smith.

Lots of English teachers struggle to get their students to read over the summer-or to reach the book(s) they’ve been assigned. For this seminar, three NJ high school teachers (one of whom is a TCNJ ENGT alum) are going to talk about how they redesigned their school’s summer reading program to give students choices and ownership of their reading.

Leslie Jamison is an American novelist and essayist, whose work has been published in Best New American Voices 2008 and Public Space. Her book of essays, The Empathy Exams, delves into how we connect with each other on the most basic of levels. IT was the winner of the Graywolf Press Non-Fiction Prize.
