The Memorisers – reading, talk and interview with Belfast author Rosemary Jenkinson on her debut novel

Rosemary Jenkinson is a short story writer, playwright, essay-writer, novelist, poet and cultural commentator from Belfast. This is her first USA tour, funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the British Council, and she has nothing to declare but her Guinness. Her plays have been performed in Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Brussels, Melbourne, New York and Washington DC. She won the Stewart Parker BBC Radio Award and is currently commissioned by the Abbey Theatre Dublin.

Her seven short story collections include Love in the Time of Chaos (shortlisted for the Edge Hill Prize) and her latest, Laganside Lights. The Irish Times has praised her fiction for ‘an elegant wit, terrific characterization and an absolute sense of her own particular Belfast’.

Her debut poetry collection is Sandy Row Riots. She is an Arts Council Major Artist and Royal Literary Fund fellow at Queen’s University. Rosemary’s debut novel, The Memorisers, was published in 2025 by Arlen House. The Memorisers is a blistering portrayal of World War III and a satire on the west’s current assault on free speech.
